A little about counseling:

As your counselor your can be assured that I have been adequately trained and follow the strict guidelines of therapy as set by the ACA (American Counseling Association).  I am also at this time in the process of working toward licensure  which means that I am under the ongoing supervision of another Licensed clinician. * we can talk about this more if you have any questions regarding confidentiality

When a person comes in for counseling or therapy generally something or some issue has become too much of a disruption in their everyday lives this can range anywhere from a severe phobia to anxiety that is getting in the way of them doing the things they love.  Either way I am well equipped to support anyone in resolving these issues.

My approach to counseling is first and foremost client driven, what this means is that you the client have a direct impact on the work we do together.  As a clinician I come from a strengths-based model, which focuses on what is working for you as well as helping you to find those strengths that already exist in you. Some of the tools I use in therapy are:

  • Breathing exercises: helping one get in touch with a deeper aspect of themselves
  • Visualizations
  • Cogitative Behavioral techniques that help one to reframe thinking that have become unhealthy or inaccurate.
  • Art as a means to express or unlock an idea or emotion.
